Baseball Preview: Pacific Grove Breakers vs. St. Monica Mariners
The Pacific Grove Breakers will face off against the St. Monica Mariners at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The last five games Pacific Grove has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Pacific Grove and Alisal meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Breakers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Trojans.
The team relied heavily on River Lyon, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
Meanwhile, St. Monica had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They walked away with a 13-8 victory over the Wildcatz.
Gabriel Campbell and Dylan Hyman did most of the damage at the plate: Campbell got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Hyman got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
