Volleyball Game Preview: UIC College Prep Firecats vs. Mansueto Leopards

UIC College Prep hasn't had much luck against Mansueto recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Firecats will host the Leopards at 12:00 p.m. UIC College Prep will be strutting in after a victory while Mansueto will be coming in after a loss.

On Monday, UIC College Prep had just enough and edged out Golder 2-1. The win continues a trend for the Firecats in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day UIC College Prep got the one that really mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 23-25, 25-23.

Meanwhile, Mansueto came up short against Solorio on Friday and fell 2-0. The Leopards have struggled against the Sun Warriors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Mansueto was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-21.

Mansueto's defeat dropped their record down to 15-5. As for UIC College Prep, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

UIC College Prep couldn't quite get it done against Mansueto in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Firecats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
