Basketball Recap: Perry Meridian Comes Up Short

Perry Meridian played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Decatur Central Hawks and fell 72-45. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Hawks recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Perry Meridian's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sterlin Lewis, who posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Bryce Mathis, who put up 14 points.

Decatur Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Quintyn Voltz, who shot 60% from the field en route to 22 points and three steals. Voltz has become a key player for Decatur Central: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least three steals, but 2-13 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Nash Sigmund, who went 7-for-9 to rack up 17 points and three steals.

Perry Meridian's loss dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Decatur Central, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-14.

Perry Meridian has already played their next game, a 72-44 defeat against Greenfield-Central on the 26th. As for Decatur Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 47-43 loss against University on the 22nd.
