Baseball Game Preview: Plumstead Christian vs. Coventry Christian

Plumstead Christian will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Coventry Christian at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Plumstead Christian will be strutting in after a win while Coventry Christian will be coming in after a loss.

Plumstead Christian is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Jenkintown. Plumstead Christian's pitcher stepped up to hand Jenkintown a 15-0 shutout on Tuesday. The game was the first time Plumstead Christian has beaten Jenkintown on their field since April 30, 2019.

Declan Glass made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Glass was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Chase Blattner and Micah Kulp did most of the damage at the plate: Blattner scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Kulp went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Liam McIlhinney was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Plumstead Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jenkintown only posted an OBP of .143.

Meanwhile, Coventry Christian unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against Conestoga Christian two weeks ago, falling 16-0. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.
