Recap: Lewisburg Patriots vs. Oxford Chargers
The Lewisburg Patriots won the last time they faced the Oxford Chargers, and things went their way on Friday too. Lewisburg took down Oxford 44-30. Given Lewisburg's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while Oxford is ranked 138th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lewisburg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Allie Carroll led the charge by scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Allison Irby, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Lewisburg has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Oxford, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 7-14.
Lewisburg will be playing at home against Hernando at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Hernando's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches. As for Oxford, they will head out on the road to square off against Horn Lake at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Horn Lake is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
