Football Game Preview: Altavista Colonels vs. Dan River Wildcats

The Altavista Colonels are taking a road trip to take on the Dan River Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dan River took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Altavista, who comes in off a win.

Altavista is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Nelson County: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Colonels blew the Governors out of the water with a 57-7 final score. The game marked the Colonels' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Jacorion Davis went supernova, rushing for 112 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Dan River played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 62-14 loss at the hands of Appomattox County. The Wildcats were down 62-7 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Although Dan River took the loss, they still got scores from Josiah Farmer and Keyon Brooks.

The win made it two in a row for Altavista and bumps their season record up to 3-2. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.0 points over those games. As for Dan River, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Everything came up roses for Altavista against Dan River when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 74-7 win. In that contest, the Colonels amassed a halftime lead of 52-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
