Football Game Preview: Mendon Hornets vs. Colon Magi

Mendon is a perfect 3-0 against Colon since November of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Hornets will be playing at home against the Magi at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Colon will be up against a hot Mendon team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. The Hornets simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Athens 59-0. Considering the Hornets have won three matchups by more than 29 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Mendon had a senior duo take command as Owen Gorham gained 123 total yards and two touchdowns and Ryder Gorham threw for 146 yards and four TDs. Ryder's superb passer rating of 177.1 also marked a new season-high.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Mendon's defense and their three sacks. Conner Doehring was especially locked on to Athens' QB and sacked him twice.

Meanwhile, Colon took a blow against Climax-Scotts on Friday, falling 77-36. The loss continues a trend for the Magi in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost three in a row.

Mendon's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Colon, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Everything came up roses for Mendon against Colon in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, as the team secured a 66-0 victory. Do the Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Magi turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
