Baseball Recap: Weston Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Weston faced Northbridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 9-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Aidan Murphy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Weston got a massive performance out of Ryan Hinckley, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run was Hinckley's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryuji Nawa, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Weston was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northbridge only posted a batting average of .087.

The victory keeps Weston at an undefeated 8-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average this season. As for Northbridge, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 5-2 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Weston will welcome Westford Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Northbridge, they will host Grafton at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
