Baseball Recap: Gautier Takes a Loss

Sacred Heart hit Gautier with a four-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Gators fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 6-5. On the bright side, the five- run effort marked the Gators' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Darrie Slay was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Dakkoda Jackson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Gautier's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Sacred Heart, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Gautier has already played their next game, a 9-1 victory against Citronelle on the 21st. As for Sacred Heart, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 5-0 win against Stringer on the 21st.
