Basketball Recap: Ocala Christian Comes Up Short

Ocala Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were beaten by the Cornerstone Academy Cougars 83-47. The Crusaders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

Cornerstone Academy was led to victory by Jared Owens and Micah Whing. Owens shot 7-for-12 from downtown and dropped a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds, while Whing almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine boards. Whing is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Joa Walters was another key player, putting up ten points and five boards.

Ocala Christian's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Cornerstone Academy, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.

Ocala Christian has already played their next game, a 72-51 defeat against Real Life Christian Academy on the 9th. As for Cornerstone Academy, they will challenge Cedar Key at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars will be up against the Sharks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 60.75 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
