Baseball Game Preview: Central Cambria Red Devils vs. Northern Cambria Colts

The Central Cambria Red Devils will take on the Northern Cambria Colts at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Central Cambria has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Northern Cambria will arrive with 11 straight victories.

On Thursday, Central Cambria came up short against Penn Cambria and fell 6-2.

Central Cambria saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was JD Brouse, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Northern Cambria and Purchase Line meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Colts blew past the Red Dragons 14-3. The result was nothing new for the Colts, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Levi Czar, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Austen Bougher, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Northern Cambria always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

Central Cambria's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Northern Cambria, their win bumped their record up to 11-0.

Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Central Cambria has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Northern Cambria struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.5 hits.
