Softball Recap: Highland Park Giants vs. Regina Dominican Panthers
Highland Park had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Regina Dominican Panthers a 15-0 shutout on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Giants as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Lily Freedman was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Freedman was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Marin Killeen was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Brooklyn Swick was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Highland Park always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .742. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Regina Dominican only posted an OBP of .200.
Regina Dominican's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Highland Park will venture away from home to challenge Elk Grove at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Regina Dominican, they will head out on the road to square off against Lake Forest at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
