Basketball Recap: Hedgesville Falls Despite Big Games from Rylee Bodkins and Lexie Brown

Hedgesville played a tough contest on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 61-37 to the Spring Mills Cardinals. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while the Cardinals are ranked 27th).

Lexie Brown and Rylee Bodkins certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Brown posted 12 points, while Bodkins went 6-for-9 en route to 15 points and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Bodkins a new career-high in field goal percentage (67%).

Kilah Dandridge continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Spring Mills, going 7-for-12 on her way to 21 points and seven rebounds. Dandridge continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Zianna Lomaz, who went 5-for-6 to rack up 10 points and five boards.

Hedgesville's loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Spring Mills, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Hedgesville has already played their next game, a 48-39 defeat against Jefferson on the 13th. As for Spring Mills, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 43-38 loss against Martinsburg on the 13th.
