Baseball Game Preview: South Warren Spartans vs. Corbin Redhounds

The South Warren Spartans will venture away from home to face off against the Corbin Redhounds at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. South Warren is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

South Warren's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Friday, when they got past Hazard's usually-dominant pitching crew. The Spartans put the hurt on the Bulldogs / Lady Bulldogs with a sharp 15-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Brandon Perkins Jr., who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxen Decker, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Corbin came up short against Madison Central on Friday, falling 8-2. The Redhounds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Corbin saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Cima, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Corbin's loss dropped their record down to 18-14. As for South Warren, their victory bumped their record up to 21-6.

South Warren took their win against Corbin when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 10-3 score. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Redhounds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
