Baseball Recap: Shenandoah Valley Wins Going Away Against Minersville

Shenandoah Valley won the last time they faced Minersville and things went their way on Thursday too. The Blue Devils put the hurt on the Battlin' Miners with a sharp 8-2 victory. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

Brayden Maksimik spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Chase McCole, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremy Thomas, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Shenandoah Valley is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Minersville, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Shenandoah Valley is set to square off against their familiar foe Nativity BVM at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Minersville will take on rival Williams Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
