Basketball Recap: South Carroll Comes Up Short

South Carroll was the 49-28 winner over Manchester Valley when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The South Carroll Cavaliers were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 45-44 to the Manchester Valley Mavericks. The Cavaliers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Manchester Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Taylor Fique led the charge by putting up 16 points along with seven boards and four steals. Fique is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Penczek, who posted ten points and four steals.

South Carroll's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Manchester Valley, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Carroll will take on Mount de Sales Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Manchester Valley, they will head out on the road to challenge Century at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
