Baseball Game Preview: Arapahoe Warriors vs. Eaglecrest Raptors

For the second straight game, Arapahoe will face off against Eaglecrest. The Warriors will be playing at home against the Raptors at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Arapahoe is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Arapahoe and Eaglecrest meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Warriors put the hurt on the Raptors with a sharp 11-2 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Warriors considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Aaron Stalter looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April.

On the hitting side, Gussie Maynard and Jackson Cadwallader did most of the damage at the plate: Maynard went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Cadwallader went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits Maynard has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Nate Brown, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two doubles.

Arapahoe was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eaglecrest only posted a batting average of .200.

Eaglecrest's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Arapahoe, their win bumped their record up to 13-8.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Arapahoe hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Eaglecrest struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
