Basketball Game Preview: Ridgecroft Rams vs. Halifax Academy Vikings

Ridgecroft is 8-2 against Halifax Academy since December of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Rams will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vikings at 7:30 p.m. Ridgecroft has given up an average of 60.1 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Last Friday, Ridgecroft ended up a good deal behind Lawrence Academy and lost 60-43.

Despite the loss, Ridgecroft saw an underclassman step up: freshman Harrison Jones posted 19 points and three steals. Jones' evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethyn Beachboard, who scored six points and six boards.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Halifax Academy). They breezed past Kerr-Vance Academy to the tune of 67-30 on Thursday. The Vikings have beaten the Spartans the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Spartans has come to flipping the script.

Halifax Academy found their leader in sophomore Riddick Bain, who almost dropped a double-double with 23 points and nine steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bain has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Luke Corum, who went 7-for-11 on his way to 17 points.

Halifax Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Ridgecroft has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points over those games. Halifax Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4.

Ridgecroft didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Halifax Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 64-60 win.
