Softball Game Preview: Muhlenberg Muhls vs. Octorara Area Braves

The Muhlenberg Muhls will venture away from home to face off against the Octorara Area Braves at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.

Muhlenberg lost 20-3 to Boiling Springs on Friday.

Muhlenberg saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Wentzel, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Octorara Area fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Ephrata on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mountaineers by a score of 15-14. One positive for the Braves, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Peyton Motes made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of her six plate appearances with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. She also put up two hits, which were her first of the season. Hailey Tidd was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-6.

Even though they lost, Octorara Area always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ephrata only posted an OBP of .380.

Muhlenberg's record now sits at 0-3. As for Octorara Area, their record now sits at 1-3.

Muhlenberg came out on top in a nail-biter against Octorara Area when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for Muhlenberg since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
