Baseball Recap: Holyoke Dragons vs. Yuma Outlaws
Holyoke extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 18 on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 0-17 in the process. They lost 16-0 to the Yuma Outlaws. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Outlaws this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 20-2 on Saturday.
As for Yuma, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-4. Considering they have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
For Yuma's part, Jose Ross made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Ross has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Christian Thomson was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Lennox Huwa also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Coming up, Holyoke will be playing at home against Haxtun at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dragons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Fightin' Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season. As for Yuma, they will face off against Limon at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
