Basketball Game Preview: Washingtonville Wizards vs. Middletown Middie Bears

Washingtonville hasn't had much luck against Middletown recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Washingtonville Wizards are taking a road trip to square off against the Middletown Middie Bears at 4:30 p.m. Washingtonville will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

If Washingtonville beats Middletown with 60 points on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Washingtonville enjoyed a cozy 60-44 victory over Minisink Valley on Tuesday. Given the Wizards' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while the Warriors are ranked 733rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Middletown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 52-43 to Goshen Central.

Middletown's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Washingtonville, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.

Washingtonville was dealt a bruising 67-37 defeat at the hands of Middletown when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Washingtonville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
