Softball Game Preview: Madison Southern Eagles vs. Pulaski County Maroons

The Madison Southern Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Pulaski County Maroons at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Madison Southern has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Madison Southern couldn't beat Franklin County on Wednesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Eagles came up short against the Flyers, falling 14-6. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly eight runs.

Lexie Keener made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Pulaski County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 13-7 to Caldwell County. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Maroons have suffered since March 29th.

Madison Southern has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Pulaski County, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-18-2.

Madison Southern couldn't quite get it done against Pulaski County when the teams last played back in March of 2024 as they fell 8-5. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
