Basketball Recap: Dawson Macklin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Rio Vista over West

Rio Vista lost against West back in December of 2020 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Rio Vista Eagles fell 51-40 to the West Trojans.

Rio Vista lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Dawson Macklin, who posted 15 points and six rebounds. Macklin has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kaiden Scott, who earned ten points and five rebounds.

West got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ayden Poteet out in front who went 7 of 11 on his way to 16 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Easton Rinewalt, who put up nine points and six assists.

Rio Vista has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. As for West, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Scurry-Rosser the next time they take the court. Rio Vista will host Scurry-Rosser at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while West will head out to face them at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
