Watauga proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 11) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Alexander Central Cougars 8-7. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 10-1 win on April 8th.

The team relied heavily on JT Cook, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Maddox Greene, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Watauga is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Alexander Central, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 15-9 record.

Coming up, Watauga will square off against South Caldwell at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Pioneers surely won't give up without a fight. Alexander Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
