Preview: Red Bluff Spartans vs. Foothill Cougars
Red Bluff is 0-10 against Foothill since September of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Red Bluff Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Foothill Cougars at 6:30 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought match, but Red Bluff had to settle for a 17-14 loss against Shasta. Red Bluff has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The losing side was boosted by Jose (chacho) Chavez, who rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns. Chavez hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for three straight games.
Meanwhile, Foothill was the victim of a rough 36-13 loss at the hands of Pleasant Valley on Friday. Foothill was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 24-0.
Red Bluff has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Foothill, they bumped their record down to 5-5 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Red Bluff was taken down by Foothill 34-6 in their previous matchup back in October. Can Red Bluff avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
