Basketball Recap: Neches Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Neches took on Harleton on Friday. The Neches Tigers fell just short of the Harleton Wildcats by a score of 41-39. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 54-36.

Landon Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Harleton, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Skyler Karva, who posted seven points.

Neches has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Harleton, their win bumped their record up to 4-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Neches will take on Mount Calm in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Harleton and McLeod will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
