Recap: Cranston East Thunderbolts vs. Chariho Chargers
If the Cranston East Thunderbolts were feeling good off their 64-32 takedown of the Woonsocket Villa Novans last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Cranston East was dealt a 69-39 loss at the hands of Chariho on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Cranston East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Chariho is ranked fourth).
Despite the loss, Cranston East still got an impressive performance from Mya Jiminez, who scored 25 points. That was a full 64.1% of Cranston East's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Cranston East has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Chariho, they pushed their record up to 11-3 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home.
Cranston East will take on Cumberland at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Cumberland is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Chariho, they will head out on the road to take on Mt. Pleasant at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Mt. Pleasant comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 18 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
