            Volleyball Recap: Maranatha Minutemen vs. Garfield Bulldogs        
        
		
        
        
            Maranatha was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight  defeat. They came up short against  the Garfield Bulldogs, falling  3-0.
 While Maranatha was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Garfield's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-21,  25-22.
 Avery Chiu paced Maranatha's offense, picking up nine kills. Chiu got some help from  Zach Shin and his 11 assists. Shin was also solid from the service line:  he led the team with three aces.
 Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Garfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than   Gustavo Flores-Zavaleta, who  had 17  digs and two  assists. That's the most  digs  Flores-Zavaleta has posted  over his last seven  matches.  Noe Mu?oz was another key player,  getting five  aces and four  digs.
Maranatha's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Garfield,  the  win made it two in a row for them and  bumps their season record up to 6-7.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maranatha will venture away from home to  square off against Village Christian  at 6:15  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Garfield, they will head out to  face off against South East  at 4:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. South East will roll in looking for their  sixth straight  victory, something Garfield surely won't give up without a fight.
