Baseball Recap: Middle Tennessee Monarchs Snags Sixth Win in Last Eight Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Eagleville, Middle Tennessee Monarchs was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They skirted past the Texans Baseball Homeschool Texans 4-3. For Middle Tennessee Monarchs, this counts as revenge for the 5-4 victory Texans Baseball Homeschool walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2019.

Jackson Whittimore looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Dawson Burgess was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Harrison, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Middle Tennessee Monarchs is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-16 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Texans Baseball Homeschool, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7.

Looking ahead, Middle Tennessee Monarchs will venture away from home to take on Northside Falcons HomeSchool at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. The Falcons will roll in looking for their 17th straight victory, something Middle Tennessee Monarchs surely won't give up without a fight. Texans Baseball Homeschool does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
