Baseball Game Preview: Chaparral Lobos vs. Belen Eagles

For the second straight game, Chaparral will face off against Belen. The Lobos will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Chaparral will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Chaparral is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over Belen. The Lobos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by six runs or more this season.

Michael Molina and Israel Nieto made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Molina didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Meanwhile, Nieto tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. At the plate, Molina got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Nieto got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Nieto has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carlos Torres, who went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Justin Castillo was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs.

With the defeat, Belen broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 18-9. As for Chaparral, their victory bumped their record up to 16-11.
