Basketball Recap: Natchez Triumphs

If Brookhaven wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Natchez, they should've done a better job of containing RONIYA ELLIS. The Natchez Bulldogs took down the Brookhaven Panthers 49-30 on Tuesday thanks in part to ELLIS, who went 8 of 19 on her way to 27 points. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played.

JOY GUTTER was another key player, putting up two points and three steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in December of 2024.

Sh'Nya Hill and Kema Roberts certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Hill posted 11 points and five rebounds, while Roberts earned seven points and nine boards. Trinity Smith also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Natchez's victory bumped their record up to 18-7. As for Brookhaven, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Natchez has already played their next game (against South Jones), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Brookhaven will head out on the road to take on Florence at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Florence will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Brookhaven surely won't give up without a fight.
