Softball Game Preview: Waverly Warriors vs. DeWitt Panthers

Waverly is 2-8 against DeWitt since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Warriors will head out to challenge the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Waverly is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Waverly earned a 4-1 victory over Okemos. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won three in a row.

Nevaeh Larner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, McKenna Bensinger was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

DeWitt not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 18, 2024 (when they won 16-1). Everything went their way against Haslett as they made off with a 14-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

DeWitt's win bumped their record up to 9-17. As for Waverly, their victory bumped their record up to 12-7.

Waverly skirted past DeWitt 4-2 in their previous matchup back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
