Basketball Game Preview: North Murray Mountaineers vs. Sonoraville Phoenix

North Murray is 1-9 against Sonoraville since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The North Murray Mountaineers will host the Sonoraville Phoenix at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, North Murray turned things around against Rockmart on Wednesday. They secured a 48-44 W over the Yellowjackets.

Meanwhile, Sonoraville came tearing into Wednesday's game with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 52-40. Given the Phoenix's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while the Warriors are ranked 218th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sonoraville's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for North Murray, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-10 and their overall record up to 5-14.
