Basketball Recap: Cairo Comes Up Short

Cairo suffered their closest defeat since December 7, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of the New Madrid County Central Eagles by a score of 54-52. The Pilots haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Ra'Mond Brooks was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 16 rebounds for New Madrid County Central. Those 16 boards gave Brooks a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Issiac Smith, who posted six points.

Cairo's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for New Madrid County Central, they moved to 3-11 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Cairo wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 69-55 win against Kelly on the 18th. As for New Madrid County Central, they will venture away from home to take on Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
