Baseball Recap: St. Joseph Notre Dame Starts off Right with Win over Saint Mary's

St. Joseph Notre Dame had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They never let the Saint Mary's Panthers get on the board and left with a 2-0 win on Monday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Pilots as it put an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Not much got past Zach Lopez, who gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Saint Mary's off the board. Those 11 strikeouts gave Lopez a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Robbie Fintland, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Saint Mary's is on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, St. Joseph Notre Dame will host St. Patrick-St. Vincent at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Saint Mary's will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on University at 4:00 p.m. on March 20th.
