Softball Recap: Maranatha Christian's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

Maranatha Christian dropped their record down to 8-7 on Friday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They lost 10-0 to the Foothills Christian Knights. The Eagles were red-hot at the plate heading into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the three contests prior), but the Knights' pitcher proved too tough.

As for Foothills Christian, the win got them back to even at 6-6. They haven't had any issues with Maranatha Christian recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

For Foothills Christian's part, Emma Romeka made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. Romeka has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kenzie Gomez and Brooklyn Fabulic did most of the damage at the plate: Gomez went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Fabulic went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Those two runs gave Fabulic a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Holly Vigil, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Coming up, Maranatha Christian will head out on the road to challenge Classical Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Foothills Christian, they will face off against Coastal Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Stingrays will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight.
