Baseball Recap: Boyertown's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Boyertown dropped their record down to 6-7 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell 7-2 to the Norristown Eagles. The Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Norristown, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-8 and their overall record up to 4-10. The victory was some much needed relief for they as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

For Norristown's part, Matt Leary made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Leary was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Brett Murphy was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Jackson Tatum was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Boyertown didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 7-4 win against Pottsgrove on the 24th. As for Norristown, they will host Perkiomen Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
