Basketball Recap: Overton Piles Up the Points Against Hunters Lane

Overton won the last time they faced Hunters Lane and things went their way on Friday too. The Overton Bobcats simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Hunters Lane Warriors 56-23. The Bobcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 28 points or more this season.

Overton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tahj McLemore out in front who went 8 for 12 on his way to 17 points and seven boards. Jehmel Madison was another key player, putting up seven points along with seven steals and five assists.

Overton was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hunters Lane only posted four assists.

When it comes to explaining why Hunters Lane lost, don't look at Isaiah Mcgill. Despite the final result, he posted two points. The dominant performance also gave Mcgill a new career-high in blocks (two). Stephon Curry also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Overton now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Hunters Lane, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Overton and Hunters Lane could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings. Overton (ranked 221st) will meet Antioch (ranked 82nd) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Hunters Lane will challenge Cane Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday down 278 places (361 vs. 83).
