Basketball Recap: Jack Primus Key Part of a Team Effort in Cardinals Win

Upsala hadn't done well against Kimball recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Upsala Cardinals narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Kimball Cubs 51-48. The Cardinals' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Upsala's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jack Primus led the charge by putting up 11 points in addition to seven boards and five assists. Primus is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. Calvin Leners was another key player, going 6 of 13 on his way to 14 points.

Upsala smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 44 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Upsala is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Kimball, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
