Basketball Recap: Riverview Sarasota Sets Scoring Season-High Against Southeast

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Riverview Sarasota). They put the hurt on the Southeast Seminoles with a sharp 95-75 win on Friday. For the Rams, this counts as revenge for the 60-43 victory the Seminoles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.

It was another big night for Josh Harris, who went 11 for 17 on his way to 32 points. Those 32 points gave him a new career-high. Cole Coggin was another key player, going 8 for 13 on his way to 20 points and five rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Southeast saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jakyrin Smith posted 23 points. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for Smith. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamarri Bivens, who had 13 points.

The win got Riverview Sarasota back to even at 5-5. As for Southeast, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverview Sarasota will welcome Golden Gate at 7:30 p.m. on December 20th. Riverview Sarasota is facing Golden Gate at the right time seeing as Golden Gate is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Southeast, they will host Manatee at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southeast is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54 points per game this season.
