Baseball Recap: San Ramon Valley Triumphs

San Ramon Valley never let their opponents score on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Rodriguez Mustangs 2-0. The win was some much needed relief for the Wolves as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Bryce Monte tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because San Ramon Valley is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-3 otherwise.

At the plate, San Ramon Valley's victory was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jake Tsunemoto, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

San Ramon Valley's record is now 3-4. As for Rodriguez, they now also have a losing record of 3-4.

San Ramon Valley and Rodriguez could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. San Ramon Valley (ranked 518th) will meet Foothill (ranked 28th) at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Rodriguez will take on Laguna Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Monday down 254 places (421 vs. 167).
