Preview: Big Spring Steers vs. Sweetwater Mustangs
The Big Spring Steers will head out on the road to face off against the Sweetwater Mustangs at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Big Spring has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Tuesday, Big Spring was able to grind out a solid win over Lake View, taking the game 47-40. The victory was just what Big Spring needed coming off of a 78-30 defeat in their prior match.
Meanwhile, Sweetwater lost to Snyder on the road by a decisive 53-34 margin on Tuesday. Sweetwater has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Kendall Daniel, who scored six points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaidynce Tilley, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Big Spring's victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-20. As for Sweetwater, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-10 record this season.
Big Spring didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Sweetwater when the teams last played back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 33-27 victory. Does Big Spring have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sweetwater turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
