Softball Recap: Fort Meade Miners vs. Mulberry Panthers
Fort Meade was the 15-5 winner over Mulberry when they last played one another back in April of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Fort Meade Miners fell 6-2 to the Mulberry Panthers on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest runs Fort Meade has scored all season.
Ariel Ramirez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive pitching appearances.
On the hitting side, Fort Meade saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cailynn Johnson, who went 1-for-3 with a stolen base and an RBI.
Even though they lost, Fort Meade hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mulberry struck out nine times.

At the plate, A'lejah Washington was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Gracie Danforth, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Fort Meade's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Mulberry, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.
Fort Meade will be playing in front of their home fans against Davenport at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Davenport will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Mulberry, they will head out on the road to square off against McKeel Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Mulberry is facing McKeel Academy at the right time seeing as McKeel Academy is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
