Softball Recap: Friday's Loss Ends Lakota West's Winning Streak

After a string of six wins, Lakota West's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fairfield Indians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-4 back in April.

Paige Kopp made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Claire Wilburn was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Lakota West's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Fairfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.

Lakota West will challenge Mason at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Comets will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Firebirds surely won't give up without a fight. As for Fairfield, they will square off against New Richmond at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
