Softball Recap: Bellmont Braves vs. Garrett Railroaders

Bellmont gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They never let the Garrett Railroaders onto the board and left with a 14-0 win. That's more bragging rights for Bellmont, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Bella Ashley and MaryKate Scheumann made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Ashley pitched an inning while giving up no earned runs or hits (she also didn't allow any walks). Meanwhile, Scheumann didn't allow a single earned run and only one hit while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. At the plate, Ashley scored two runs and stole a base, while Scheumann went 4-for-5 with five RBI, a triple, and a run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aaliyah Faurote, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Sami Christen was another key contributor, scoring three runs while going 1-for-4.
