Football Recap: Coronado Thunderbirds vs. Andress Eagles
It was a Battle of the Birds when Coronado duked it out with Andress on Friday. The Thunderbirds took a 47-28 bruising from the Eagles. The Thunderbirds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.
West Stansbury threw for 162 yards and one touchdown. Ben Wilson was his top target, picking up 113 receiving yards and one TD. On the ground, Norman Montion rushed for 90 yards and three scores.
Andress got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Carmelo (Melo) Jones out in front who rushed for 144 yards and four scores while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Jamari Milton, who rushed for 94 yards and one TD.
Coronado dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Andress, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Coronado didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 28-14 defeat against Oakridge on the 12th. As for Andress, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 55-0 win against Jefferson on the 11th.
