Soccer Game Preview: Cardinal Mooney vs. Berkeley Prep

The Cardinal Mooney Cougars are taking a road trip to face off against the Berkeley Prep Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Berkeley Prep took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Cardinal Mooney, who comes in off a win.

While Cardinal Mooney fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Monday's season opener. They won by a goal and slipped past Venice 2-1. The game was the first time Cardinal Mooney have beaten Venice on their pitch since November 20, 2017.

Ava Lamorey and Taylor Rosenberg scored both of Cardinal Mooney's goals, which were season-firsts for both players.

Meanwhile, Berkeley Prep unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-pitch advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of Alonso by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday.

Cardinal Mooney suffered a grim 5-1 defeat to Berkeley Prep in their previous meeting back in February of 2021. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Cougars were down 3-0.
