Football Recap: Fort Bend Marshall Buffalos vs. University Trojans
Fort Bend Marshall had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They claimed a resounding 52-14 victory over the University Trojans. The Buffalos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 24 points or more this season.
Kaeden Johnson was his usual excellent self, throwing for 176 yards and four touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes, and also rushing for 72 yards on only ten carries. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 50 yards. Durell Taylor was in the mix too, providing Fort Bend Marshall with two touchdowns.
Fort Bend Marshall was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 267 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2023.
Fort Bend Marshall didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ryan Johnson and Ashton Lofton. Lofton is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in the last four games he's played.
Fort Bend Marshall's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.5 points per game. As for University, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-4.
Fort Bend Marshall wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 38-10 victory against Bastrop on the 22nd. University does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
