Softball Recap: Van Comes Up Short

Van extended their losing streak to eight on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-20 in the process. They came up short against the Sherman Tide, falling 15-0. If the Bulldogs were looking for revenge after losing 19-1 to the Tide when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Van saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hailey Tackett, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Sherman, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-8. Considering they have won eight matchups by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

On Sherman's side, the team relied heavily on Savannah Drake, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs Drake has posted over her last seven contests. Audrina Smith was another key player, firing off three triples while going 4-for-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Sherman beat Van by a score of 7-1 later that day.
