Basketball Game Preview: Winthrop College Prep Academy Spartans vs. Palmetto Tigers

The Winthrop College Prep Academy Spartans will square off against the Palmetto Tigers at 11:00 a.m. on Monday.

Last Saturday, Winthrop College Prep Academy ended up a good deal behind St. Petersburg and lost 60-44. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 376th, while the Green Devils are ranked 148th).

Meanwhile, Palmetto entered their tilt with Durant on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They took their contest with ease, bagging an 83-45 victory over the Cougars. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 23 points or more this season.

Palmetto has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Winthrop College Prep Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11.

Winthrop College Prep Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Palmetto when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 65-54. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Palmetto's Evan Roberts, who posted 26 points.
